Friday 6th July – Singing for Action Mesothelioma Day

We sang in memory and support of workers and their families who have been affected by industrial diseases such as mesothelioma and asbestosis.

Friday 29th June – Sunday 1 July – Street Choirs Festival, Brighton

Sheffield Socialist Choir performed alongside a host of other political, campaigning and community choirs in Brighton


May 22 –  Impromptu performance of Let’s Hear it for the Trees, writtend by our MD Janet Wood, in support of tree campaigners lobbying a meeting with the Police Commissioner.

May 10 In support of Millions Missing, which campaigns for health equality for those with ME and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome we recorded and shared through social media the song ‘I Stand With You’ which was written and arranged by our MD, Janet Wood.

May 7 – We performed at Chesterfield’s Annual May Day celebration, singing both from the Main Stage and in the Market Hall

April 28 – We ran a highly successful open workshop called Singing for Change, at Weston Park Museum

Thursday 14th December

We held a seasonal social and signed cards and wrote letters to political prisoners from around the world as part of Amnesty International’s Write for Rights campaign.

Saturday 2nd December

We sang with Unite Community in Chesterfield to highlight the issues with the roll-out of Universal Credit.

Sunday 1st October – Tory Party Conference demonstration

Some of our members joined the People’s Assembly Demonstration at the Tory Party Conference in Manchester.  We sang with other choirs from the Campaign Choirs Network.  See more here

Street Choirs Festival 2017 Kendal.

Sheffield Socialist Choir took part in this annual festival which includes busking, massed sing and workshops in venues throughout the town.

Along with more than 30 other community and political choirs we were in Leicester for the annual Street Choirs Festival, busking around the city and performing in a concert.
